Why Do Not Copy Seminar / Project Reports and should Create Your Own?
Guest Post by: Chirag Gadara
When I was in college, I found most of the students in final year copying not only seminar or project topics but the full report also. Whether they are preparing for final year project report or participating in technical events or competitions to present their project or skills. If you are one of those students, I strongly recommend you to read this article. I have tried to high light to pros and cons of copying, using and preparing for seminar from reports created by some one else.
First of all let me start with Why not to copy other’s reports?
It’s not about the copyright law of course, but it’s about ethics, quality and self development. College and schools are the learning phase of our life and hence our goal should be to develop our skill to be on top of others. When you use ready made seminar or projects created by your seniors, friends or downloaded from internet…
- You are not aware of the quality of the report. You can not be sure about the quality of that report even if you read it if you have not gone through the detailed analysis of the subject and referred some other reports also.
- You will never learn the very important things in your life like doing research on any subject, finding information on your own self and how to choose the best topic (best way) to stay ahead the competition (life). Infect you will really enjoy learning so many things when you prepare your self to do research for each and every aspect of your seminar or project.
- You can not test the real fruits of victory even if you won the prize in competition due to that copied report. Only the real hard work will make you know the importance of victory.
Should you avoid using seminar / projects of your friends and seniors?
No, infect I will recommend to use them as reference. Read them thoroughly, understand well the subject and filter out unnecessary things and fill up other interesting things in the same subject as per your own research and knowledge.
To prepare your own project report, you can go through following steps.
- Make list of top subjects and choose one of them for your project.
- Make a list of topic that you want to cover in your report.
- Find information about those topics from various sources like from your friends, books, magazines, library and internet. If you are good enough in surfing, you can find all the information from internet easily.
